Sweden is a Nordic country on the Scandinavian Peninsula in Northern Europe
Population : 9.2 million .
The country has at least 17 000 indigenous Samis among its population – a community that derives most of its income from reindeer. Sweden is also home to a small number of ethnic Finns.
Capital : Sweden's capital is Stockholm.
Language : The official language of Sweden is Swedish. Sweden Finns are Sweden's largest linguistic minority, comprising about 3 percent of Sweden's population and Finnish is recognised as a minority language. Four other minority languages are also recognised (Meänkieli, Sami, Romani and Yiddish).
Climate : Sweden has a much milder climate than most other regions that lie as far Northern Europe. Sweden's climate is influenced by the Gulf Stream, a warm ocean stream that flows off Norway's west coast. Sweden's many lakes and the gulfs of Bothnia give Sweden generally a relatively mild climate.
Religion : At the end of 2008, 72,9% of Swedes belonged to the Church of Sweden (Lutheran), between 46–85% of the population can be classified as atheist or agnostic. In addition, immigration has meant that there are now Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox Christians and Muslim living in Sweden.
Political system : Sweden is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary system of government and a highly developed economy.
Sweden is an export-oriented market economy featuring a modern distribution system. Sweden exports cars, engineering products, steel, electronic devices, communications equipment and paper products.
